Just 30 minutes from Manchester city centre, Tawny Stores sits in a prime spot along the Macclesfield Canal and feels closely tied to the outdoors. Walkers and cyclists drop in throughout the day, often planning their weekend routes around it. Muddy boots and flushed cheeks are all part of the scene, giving the place an easy, unpolished feel that suits its surroundings. Step inside, and that sense of ease continues. The interior feels warm and lived-in, shaped by a mix of mid-century pieces and repurposed furniture that gives the space character without feeling overly designed. It’s the kind of environment Marple needed – cool, eclectic, and relaxed, without the need to venture into the city centre by train. Its approach is refreshingly straightforward: seasonal food served alongside shelves of artisanal essentials.
